Setup Custom Domain

In order to add your own branding and use your own domain for the URL of your videos to keep any reference to the platform hidden and most importantly, improve email deliverability, you can set up a Custom Domain.

In order to do so, navigate to your username on the top bar, and click on it.

Select Settings.

Navigate to the Custom Domain section.

By default, all video URLs start with "yoursubdomain.videomail.link" followed by a random ending, called a "slug" of letters and numbers.

Adding a custom domain allows you to change the URL of your videos so that it appears as if they are hosted on your own website. Note that this will only allow you to customize the URL itself, not the slug.

To enable this, you'll need to point your subdomain towards the platform using a C-NAME record, and point your branding in the platform towards your subdomain.

In order to add a C-NAME, sign in to your account with your domain host provider such as GoDaddy, HostGator, Bluehost, etc.

Next, locate where your domain's DNS records are managed. This will vary from provider to provider. It may be called DNS Management, Name Server Management, or Advanced Settings, located in your CPanel or elsewhere within your provider's dashboard.

Locate the C-NAME records for the subdomain you want to use.

If required, select which domain you want to add a C-NAME record to.

Choose Add a C-NAME record. Enter the Name of the subdomain you want to use for your platform generated videos.

Please note that some domain providers will autofill the ending of your URL. For example, if you type whatever.mydomain.com they will update this to: whatever.mydomain.com.mydomain.com. Double-check your subdomain URL to make sure you are adding the desired C-NAME record.

Moreover, in the C-NAME or "point to" field, enter target.videomail.link

Please note that there are different types of DNS records. "A" records are used to point a domain to an IP address, while "C-NAME" records are used whenever you want to associate a new subdomain with an already existing "A" record. Make sure you have added a C-NAME record.

Click Save or Add C-NAME Record.

Under your list of records, you should now see a C-NAME record pointing from your subdomain towards target.videomail.link.

Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for new DNS information to propagate.

Now that you've created your C-NAME record, navigate back to your account on the platform and add your custom domain (for example; whatever.mydomain.com).

Click on the Verify & Save button.

And that's all there is to it. Your C-Name has been successfully added.
